A man has appeared at Skegness Magistrates Court on joint allegations of conspiring to steal £4,400 worth of cigarettes from his employer, McColls of Market Place in Alford, and of carrying out a series of acts to fake an armed robbery with intent to pervert the course of justice.

Michael John Wilkinson, 43, of Freer Gardens, Louth, and Mrs Lynn Jones, 46, of Westfields, Alford, entered no pleas in relation to the charges, which can only be heard at a Crown Court.

The magistrates remanded them both on bail to a preliminary hearing at Lincoln on July 16, with the condition that they have no contact with each other.
