A super slimmer is proving to be a winner at the losing game after shedding five stone and being named Louth Slimming World’s ‘Greatest Loser’ 2015.
Josie Harness battled emotional and health hurdles to win the title, which was awarded to the member of the Meridian Slimming World group who had lost the most weight.
The proud 76-year-old winner weighed over 15 stone when she joined the group in July 2013, and has since dropped to her target weight of 10 stone.
Josie said: “I’m full of confidence now, I have more energy and my health has improved 100 per cent.”
She added: “Before I joined I suffered from lack of mobility and shortness of breath. I struggled to walk uphill without gasping for breath and had difficulty putting my shoes and socks on.”
“My only problem now has been the expense, as I’ve dropped from a size 24 to a size 12 and have been able to treat myself to a new wardrobe.”
Jane Rylands-Bolton, who runs the Louth Slimming World groups, said: “The changes we’ve seen in Josie are incredible. When I first met Josie, she was shy and withdrawn. Now she arrives early to help me and catch up with her friends.
“I hope her success will inspire other people who’d like to lose weight, and become happier and healthier, to take action.”
