A NEW state of the art, £600k laboratory is being built by Louth plastics firm Luxus on the Fairfield Industrial Estate.
The new 750 square metre facility is expected to be completed by December and will create three new jobs.
The new lab will allow Luxus to continue its technical development which caters for customers including Nissan, Ford, Jaguar, BMW and now Renailt.
The investment has been made possible thanks to the £6m in lending Luxus received as a regional winner of the HSBC Business Thinking award in 2011.
Luxus’ Managing Director, Peter Atterby, said: “Our team will be housed in a new state of the art facility that will enable them to continue to undertake thermoplastic polymer testing, development and analysis research work that provides bespoke solutions for niche market needs. “
He explained that the ongoing process of developing Luxus’ latest lightweight polymer for car interiors, Hycolene, that helps to reduce a car’s weight, will be speeded up by the process.
Currently no other UK based prime producer or compounder has a similar facility, which means that its expansion is crucial to the company’s future, improving Luxus’ position as a huge local employer with a staff force of 140.
