THE LOUTH Town Partnership has begun its search for a new independent chairperson.
The successful applicant will lead a team of volunteers working with the local community to improve the way we live and do business in Louth.
Ideally, the partnership would like someone with business acumen and excellent communication skills, a person who can work with a group of volunteers intent on achieving positive outcomes for the town.
Interim chair George Horton said that in the past three years the partnership has achieved much in introducing new activities to increase footfall into the town and engage with the community as a whole.
“On top of the annual Food Festival in July and the Victorian Family Fayre in October, we’ve this year staged the ‘0 Degrees’ arts and music festival under the partnership umbrella and we’ve taken on the Christmas Market,” he said.
“We currently are working on a three-year business plan to build on this momentum and do even greater things for the town.
“We’ve now got the added impetus of winning the BBC Countryfile vote as Britain’s Favourite Market Town, an outstanding national recognition resulting from some hard work put in by the partnership and the Louth Town Council,” he said.
“While we are currently funded by the East Lindsey District Council, our business plan calls for greater funding independence in the future and we are hoping that the Louth business community will get behind us to help build the momentum of the past three years.”
The elected chair, who will have the support of full-time Louth Town Partnership co-ordinator Samantha Phillips, will present the ‘face’ of the partnership to the public and ensure that its members are achieving its agreed goals to improve the town in every way possible.

The partnership would like to have the new chair in place by the end of October.
The position, which is unpaid, requires around a day a week with reimbursement for travel and subsistence costs.
