The repair work to Louth War Memorial has been completed today (Saturday November 7), just in time for Remembrance Sunday commemorations and Armistice Day.

The final piece of work, carried out by Leakes Masonry, has been the installation of the two new shields that replace those damaged on Sunday 15 March when a drunk driver crashed into the War Memorial.

The latest repairs follow earlier replacements of base stones, cleaning and repair of the main column, replacement and rewiring of floodlights, rebuilding the outer perimeter wall and replacement decorative slate chippings.

Mayor of Louth, Coun Sue Locking, said: “I am pleased that the work has been completed in time for the commemorations and thank everyone who has been involved in making this possible”
