THE winners of an annual floral competition have proved that Louth is Lovely!
The 2012 Lovely Louth contest was as hotly contested as ever, with an increased number of entries and many worthy displays.
But there could only be one winner from each of the five categories.They were:
l Shops and business premises: Spinning Wheel.
l Licensed premises: The Wheatsheaf.
l Private houses (frontage tubs, hanging baskets, window boxes): Mr and Mrs Macdonald, Linden Walk.
l Private houses (gardens visible from the road): Ken Addison, St Bernard’s Avenue.
l Private houses (gardens visible from the road - senior citizens): Mrs Welton, Newmarket.
Organisers Louth Town Council are looking to expand in future years to encourage sustainable planting.
This year’s Lovely Louth contest forms part of the Louth entry for the East Midlands In Bloom competition, the results of which will be announced on September 12 at an awards ceremony.
