East Lindsey District Council has struck a deal with Blachere Illumination UK Ltd to provide world class summer illuminations for the town whilst saving money, in what is being described as a ‘win-win’ situation for taxpayers.
From next year, Blachere Illumination UK Ltd - a branch of the company that provided the Eiffel Tower illuminations for the millennium celebrations - will provide vibrant summer illuminations in Mablethorpe and Skegness whilst saving ELDC more than £65,000 over the three year contract.
An ELDC spokesman said: “Blachere Illumination is an exceptional company, and the illuminations will cost less, so it is a win-win situation for taxpayers.
“The new illuminations will be more interactive, efficient, modern and vibrant, and they will really bring a ‘wow factor’.”
Consultations with town councils in Mablethorpe and Skegness were said to be “incredibly positive”.
Following a presentation to Mablethorpe Town Council, Mayor Coun Tony Howard, said: “Members were very impressive with the proposals and would like to offer their full support for the scheme.”
Blachere Illuminations UK Ltd’s three year contract is valued at £175,172.80.
