A 44-year-old woman from Mablethorpe assaulted her former partner when she saw him in the street with his new partner, Skegness Magistrates Court has been told.

Amanda Jane Smith of Quebec Road, admitted assaulting Stewart Jenson by beating on November 5 at Stanley Avenue in Mablethorpe. Nick Todd, prosecuting, said that at 9.10am on November 5, Smith turned up in a car outside the doctor’s surgery in Stanley Avenue. There was a chance meeting in the street with her former partner Mr Jenson, who had come to the surgery with his new partner, who was inside the surgery.

Mr Todd said that a verbal altercation turned violent and Smith hit him in the face causing a cut lip. Smith, who was not represented, told magistrates it was out of character for her to behave like that. “I don’t normally go on like this,” she said. “It won’t happen again.”

With a 12 month conditional discharge, magistrates described it as an ‘unfortunate incident’ and hoped it was a ‘one-off incident’. Smith to pay £15 surcharge and £85 costs.
