A local woman has donated more than 100 books to help bring a ray of light to youngsters who are stuck in hospital this Christmas.
Kate Lomas, from Mablethorpe, gained support and donations from 10 different coastal businesses in order to make her book pledge a success, which has raised over £600.
Kate visited the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby last week to hand over the 104 Usborne books which were purchased with the funds.
Ahead of the presentation, Kate said: “Money has been donated by local businesses and organisations who have given generously, and I am grateful for their support in making my book pledge very successful.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to Lady B’s, KJ Eggs, Chocolate Falls, Seacroft Ford, Choice Properties, BELAS, Remingtons, Askews, Cheeky Monkeys and Honkey Tonk Stompers, as well as the few other donors who wished to remain anonymous.”
Paula Staines, play specialist at the hospital, said: “We will be handing out the books to children over the Christmas period both on the Rainforest ward and in our assessment department.
“It is never an easy time for a family to have a child in hospital, but with kind donations like this it helps to make the experience less daunting.
“We are extremely grateful for Kate’s donation as we would not be able to provide these kind of things on our own.”
