Man released on bail in Louth murder inquiry

The 23-year-old man who was arrested on Sunday morning, following the death of 32-year-old Richard Samuel Woods, of Spring Terrace in Louth, has been released on police bail until March 12 while the investigation continues.

A murder inquiry was opened on Monday morning following a post-mortem examination.

On Tuesday, detectives were granted an extension to continue questioning the man. Ongoing forensic activity is taking place at the address.

The Senior Investigating Officer is DCI Martin Holvey, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), Major Crime. DCI Holvey said, “Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this stage, but we are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to Mr Woods’ death and appeal to anyone who saw him in the preceding hours to contact us”.
