The Marisco Medical Practice in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea aim to improve their services and will shortly welcome three new doctors.
The NHS Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group are aware that some patients have concerns over waiting periods, appointment availability and the increased number of holidaymakers that arrive in the two towns over the summer.
Dr James Howarth for NHS Lincolnshire East CCG explains: “NHS Lincolnshire East CCG is aware some patients are waiting longer for non-urgent appointments at the Marisco Medical Practice and we apologise for the inconvenience.
“Please be reassured that anyone with an urgent need will be seen and treated.
“Three new doctors will be joining the team in September, until then we would encourage people to take advantage of the experienced nurse practitioner appointments who can deal with 90 per cent of problems that a doctor can.”
The practice is one of the biggest and busiest in Lincolnshire with 14,000 registered patients, many of whom are elderly with very complex health needs.
“In response to the complex needs of these patients, the surgery has introduced more services, which has contributed to increased demand in appointments,” Dr Howarth said.
Marisco is also beginning to use text message reminders to go out the day before and on the morning of appointments, which can help reduce the number of missed appointments by 25 per cent.
Dr Howarth also said: “The team at Marisco thanks everyone for their understanding and patience as they continue to manage under increasing workload until the new staff arrive and welcomes people to join the patient participation group, just ask at reception.”
