PEOPLE are invited to train with the Egyptian Paralympic Team next week.
In preparation for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, a team of 40 athletes will train at four venues across Lincolnshire in Athletics, Powerlifting, Sitting Volleyball and Table Tennis.
Community training sessions will be held throughout the week for children, adults, families, groups and clubs to meet the potential medalists and train alongside the elite athletes in their sport.
The sessions will take place on Monday August 20, 12noon to 1pm, for sitting volleyball and table tennis at the University of Lincoln and Tuesday August 21, 12noon to 1pm for athletics at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston.
A meet and greet will also take place on Wednesday August 22, 3.30 to 4.30pm at the Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth, with the Egyptian powerlifting team.
Coun Doreen Stephenson, Lincolnshire Champion for the London 2012 Games and Leader of East Lindsey District Council, said: “This is a great opportunity for local communities to get involved with the London 2012 Paralympic Games. We are very privileged to welcome the Egyptian Paralympic Team to our county, and I hope that these open training sessions are well attended with people inspired by the Games so far.”
People are encouraged to turn up at the venue on the day, and are asked to sign in at reception.
The Egyptian Paralympic Team will arrive in Lincolnshire on Saturday August 18, and will stay for six days before travelling down to London on Friday August 24.
