Over Summer 17 students and two teachers from Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College went on a two week adventure expedition to Morocco. They helped decorate classrooms at a primary school in a small rural town, trekked to the summit of Salesman Mountain, went on a camel trek into the other-worldly dunes of Erg Chebbi and met snake charmers in Marrakech.
The college is preparing for its next two epic adventures, a four week expedition to Thailand and Cambodia in July 2014 and an 18 day expedition to southern India in July 2015.
The college now runs overseas expeditions every year, giving every student in the upper school the chance to explore an exciting new destination and really develop their individual and team skills.
Nick Barton, Head of Geography at the College has been running these expeditions since 2000.
He said: “They are just the best thing that a young adult can get involved with. World Challenge is now an in-built part of the culture at MDTC.”
