A LOUTH resident has been named East Midlands Senior Learner of the Year.
Moya Rooke’s efforts were recognised at the Adult Learners’ Week Awards, co-ordinated by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education.
A home study computing course helped Moya, 65, re-start her creative writing career, despite severe disability with Parkinson’s disease. One-to-one home tuition through the NewLink Project boosted Moya’s confidence. Since completing the course, she has been inspired to re-work plays and has embarked on writing a six-episode sitcom. Moya said: “I think any learning experience is life enhancing and what I have learned has opened up a whole new world for me.”
