A NEW Age Kurling League will start in Lincolnshire next month.
There are currently more than 20 New Age Kurling clubs across Lincolnshire, with over 200 individuals playing regularly.
Lincolnshire Sports Partnership will launch a league in January 2012 to meet demand in the county.
Maureen Reader from South Witham Swizzlers, said: “We have 40 regular members at our New Age Kurling club and we’ve wanted a league for months. Lincolnshire Sports Partnership has really listened to us and we’re really happy they will be setting up this league in January. It’s a great chance to play people from other clubs and meet new players in Lincolnshire.”
Individuals are encouraged to enter teams of two costing £10 per team for the mini-league which will run from February to April 2012. And even if you’re not part of a club yet, you can join and enter the league.
The Mini-League will act as a trial for the full season which will start in September 2012.
Amelia Buchanan, Administration Assistant at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, is developing the league. She said: “We’ve had really positive feedback from New Age Kurling clubs across Lincolnshire about the possibility of this league, and we’re delighted to launch it in the New Year. Working with partners such as City of Lincoln Council and New Age Kurling clubs has enabled us to create a league that hopefully many teams will want to get involved with!”
Once teams have registered their interest, Lincolnshire Sports Partnership will create a fixture list and divide the teams into Divisions. Teams will have to arrange matches between themselves at a time and day suitable for everyone.
The deadline to register your team is Wednesday 18th January 2012.
