New support for people living with dementia will soon be coming to Lincolnshire.

Alzheimer’s Society is being funded by Lincolnshire County Council to provide the Dementia Family Support Service for three years from October this year.

The charity will offer information and advice to help people through their dementia journey, as well as signposting them to other local organisations.

Nasim Minhas, Alzheimer’s Society services manager for Lincolnshire, said: “There are more than 11,000 people living with dementia in Lincolnshire and that number continues to rise, so it is vital that the right support is in place.

“We will now be able to provide more people with accurate, accessible information to help them make informed decisions.

“As the person’s needs change they have a variety of questions from ‘is it safe for me to drive?’ to the carer asking about care homes or respite care. We’ll also be working closely with the other voluntary organisations in the county to ensure that people are getting the best help possible.”
