MABLETHORPE residents and tourists can now easily pinpoint the best places to be thanks to new handy sized town maps as well as four new 3D map boards which have been installed.
The illustrative maps, sold from special dispensers, are accompanied by complementary way finding signs and have been placed in strategic points across the resort; they offer easy to follow street illustrations making it simple to navigate around.
The maps have been installed as part of a new initiative for this summer called Destination and Direction in Mablethorpe.
Some local businesses have already grasped the opportunity to advertise on the maps and Julie Mudie from Cat Witches World in Spanish City has already seen positive results. She said: “Within 24 hours of the map boards being installed, I had two new customers who found my shop which shows that the map really works and is effective.”
Town centre manager Karen Froggatt added: “We would like to thank the Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Town Council for their financial contribution to the project. Without the support of the Town Council, these improvements may never have happened.”
Meanwhile, the Mablethorpe Shop Front Grant Scheme which was launched late last year is still open for businesses to use. So far ten shops in the town have benefited from the subsidy which includes new shop frontages, signage and paint work. It offers up to a 50 per cent contribution to such work for businesses in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea.
