The first residents of a
highly-anticipated new housing development in Mablethorpe are finally preparing to move in.

The Lindum housing development on Golf Road, which will feature a total of 180 houses once completed, will include 120 affordable homes which are being managed by the Waterloo Housing Group, in partnership
with East Lindsey District Council.

The completion of the first 18 homes for rent marks the first phase of one of largest regeneration projects in the region, and the first new tenants are now preparing to move in before Christmas.

The large development is also set to include a Tesco supermarket, and the company now owns their part of the land following deadlock negotiations over recent months.

Jeff Plant, Waterloo’s Head of Communities and Neighbourhoods, stressed the importance of building a strong community amongst new residents from the outset.

He said: “We’re creating a brand new community here at Golf Road, and with so many new houses, we want to help people to be happy in their new homes.

“The Good Neighbourhood Agreement ensures that all residents have agreed to the same terms before they have even received the keys to their new home.”

In addition to providing housing, the development has also given a boost to the local economy through new jobs in construction.

New resident Paul Kelly has benefitted from both as he is involved in the build of his new house. He is working on site as a plaster boarder and is pleased he will be
shortly living there too.

Paul and his family have been looking for a new home for some time and his partner, Mary Williams, said: “We’ve looked for properties previously but suitable ones don’t
come up very often in Mablethorpe.

“Our new house on Golf Road means we are can stay in the town, be close to work and the children’s schools, and have much more space for our family.”

The next phase of properties available to rent will be advertised on Homes Direct website in January, and local people in particular are being invited to register their interest as preference will be given to people with a connection to Mablethorpe.
