NORTH Thoresby Primary School has been highly commended in the Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Awards 2011 for recycling and planting.
The school children have been busy sowing vegetable, fruit and flower seeds, have included flowers to attract bees and have been feeding birds.
Pupils were invited to the Bentley Hotel in Lincoln to give a presentation and for the finals of the awards last week which were presented by Professor David Bellamy.
The school were pleased to be praised by the judges and are to continue with their environmental projects.
Professor Bellamy, who was chair of the judges, said that he was ‘flabbergasted’ at the quality of the projects in the finals.
The John Fielding Community Special School won the award.
The awards are organised by Lindum Rotary Club and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.
The trust is Lincolnshire’s leading nature conservation charity with over 25,000 members and around 100 nature reserves.
The awards are sponsored by Anglian Water, Brown & Co, Centrica and Waste Recycling Group.
