EAST Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and N&P (Norwich and Peterborough Building Society) are celebrating this month as the Society’s fundraising for the charity has topped £100,000.

EACH was chosen as N&P’s staff charity in June 2007 and since then staff at the Society have been taking part in regular fundraising activities to raise money for the charity.

This has involved a variety of different activities, such as ‘Small Change, Big Difference’, which is where staff opt in to donate the pence on the end of their net salary each month to EACH, and staff taking part in skydives, marathons, bike rides, abseils and much more.

Volunteering their time is also something that many N&P employees have done, whether it be to give buildings at the hospices a lick of paint, or giving the gardens a spruce up.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) provides emotional and practical support for families who are caring for children with life limiting, or life-threatening illnesses. EACH has three hospices in East Anglia, Milton Hospice in Cambridge, Quidenham Hospice near Norwich and it’s newly completed £3 million Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich.

Debbie Fairhurst, EACH fundraiser, said: “We can’t thank staff at N&P enough for their fundraising efforts. Their dedication has generated more than £100,000 in charitable funds, £104,085.64 to be exact, which has provided care and support to local life-threatened children and their families.

“They have truly been an inspiration, taking part in so many different fundraising activities. Everyone involved in raising this phenomenal figure should feel a sense of pride, knowing their efforts have made a significant difference to all who use EACH services. We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income, and for more information for anyone who wishes to help, please visit www.each.org.uk or call 01223 205183.”

Pat Turner N&P’s human resources general manager, said: “We are extremely proud of our staff for having raised such an incredible amount for EACH. It’s a charity that has obviously touched many people’s hearts and that shows in the amount of fundraising that staff have achieved.

“When we made EACH our staff charity in 2007, we never dreamt that we could have reached a figure like this, and I am just delighted that we have been able to help EACH support so many local families.”
