Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a burglary in Mablethorpe after there has been a rise in coastal burglaries in the area recently.

The burglary occurred at a property in Waterloo Road during the early hours of this morning (Friday, October 16). The offender gained entry via an insecure door and stole a Sony Playstation.

Detective Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn, from Skegness CID, said: “Unfortunately, we have seen a recent rise in the number of burglaries along the coast in the Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton On Sea areas.

“Some burglaries have taken place at caravan parks and we are working closely with all the members of Caravan Park Watch to ensure that all valuables are removed at the end of the season.

“There have been a number of domestic burglaries where the offender has been able to gain access through insecure doors or windows.

“Don’t make yourself a easy target. I would ask you to spend a few moments reviewing your home security and remind you to report any suspicious activity you see in your neighbourhood.”
