Riders set to roar into town for Skegness Scooter Rally

Hundreds of riders are set to roar into Skegness over the May Bank Holiday for the 15th annual Skegness Scooter Rally.

The official Robbo’s Skegness Scooter Rally Weekender kicks off on Friday at the Suncastle with an epic weekend of Northern Soul music, guest DJ's and music artists. The Seaview, Lumley and Ship & Atlantic Bar are also hosting events over the weekend.

The custom show and parts fair of scooter related stalls will be held at the Suncastle on North Parade on Saturday.

Tracey Robinson, who organises the event with husband Dean, said: “We are always pleased to be back in Skeggy.

“There are some changes to the event this year.

"At 11am on the Saturday, there will be a ‘ride-in of scooters rather than the usual ride-out that we do.

"Riders are meeting at Poppies Restaurant on Burgh Road at Burgh le Marsh and will ride through the town and finish at the Suncastle.”

All the way from the USA, the Chelsea Curve will perform on Friday before heading over to London on Sunday to play another legendary gig at the Mods Mayday.

Also performing on Friday night are Sharp Class.

Bands will be performing on Saturday afternoon are The Odels and Jason and the Skagonauts. Then on Saturday night there is Angelo Starr and The Team and The Beat featuring Ranking Jnr.

On Sunday afternoon, there is another live band, Kingston.

The rally at the Suncastle is hosted by Sally and Buster, where there will also be hot food. Children are allowed inside until 8pm.

Alongside the bands at the Suncastle, there are Scooter DJ's in a Trojan/Ska/Reggae room and over at The Savoy Hotel Ready Steady Soul event.

The entertainment carries on throughout the Bank Holiday weekend along the sea front and other venues around town.Among the other venues welcoming riders over the weekend is The Ship & Atlantic Bar.

The Motif will be live on Friday, May 3, at 10am.

Then on Saturday, May 4, the bar is hosting the Union Scooter Rally, who will be knocking out Mod and Indie tunes.

Live music continues on the Sunday.

There will also be a packed line-up supporting the Skegness Scooter Rally covering the entire weekend at the Lumley.

Live music performances include Soul FX and Buster on Bank Holiday Monday

Food will be served all day and there will be a merchandise stall.

At the Seaview Pub there will be live music on the Fiday evening from 5pm with Ray Macdonald, followed by the 01482Tones at 9pm.On Saturday from 12noon there is Ray Macdonald followed by Skaburst UK at 4pm. Then Ray will be back until close playing requests.Ray is back on Sunday from 12noon with guest DJ’s playing music throughout the day until close.
