Police urge rural residents to act against heating oil thieves

Lincolnshire Police are urging people to take extra precautions to help prevent thefts of heating oil this winter.

Sgt Alasdair Booth said: “We are in the time of year when temperatures are plummeting and we all need to turn up our heating.

“A full tank of heating oil can be worth many hundreds of pounds and it is important for householders to take every step possible to protect themselves from theft.”

There a number of measures people can take to help keep the risk down, including buying good quality locks, security lights, CCTV, using prickly hedges, and many more.
