UKIP is set to wheel out the ‘big guns’ in their battle to snatch the Louth and Horncastle seat from the Conservatives .
UKIP candidate Colin Mair has revealed he expects a number of high profile figures - including party leader Nigel Farage - to visit the constituency.
Mr Mair said: “I have been campaigning for UKIP in the various bye-elections recently. I spoke to Nigel and said he now owed me a favour. I suggested he came up to this area and he didn’t rule it out.”
Latest figures show UKIP has closed the gap on the Tories in Louth and Horncastle to just three points.
Mr Mair said he was increasingly hopeful UKIP could win the seat. He revealed party membership in the constituency had increased and said activists would be stepping up their campaign.
