A ‘POPULAR’ footway in the town centre looks set to be improved.
East Lindsey District Council has agreed to compulsory purchase the unsurfaced footpath from Aswell Street to the Gatherums, as they do not know who the owner is.
The order will come into effect when the Gatherums and Springside Regeneration Group tells the council funding is available to do the work.
A council report said the footway was ‘in desperate need of improvement’ and has ‘numerous potholes’.
They said it is used as access ‘from one part of the town to another’.
They added: “This creates a poor impression to residents and visitors and leads to a lack of civic pride in the town. The enhancement of this popular footway will assist in reducing vandalism.”
