Pupils are full of praise about the new Somercotes Academy.

As a new school year begins, students are filled with enthusiasm as Somercotes Academy officially springs into action.

With newly-refurbished classroom and the appointment of several new teachers, pupils at the school have welcomed the changes as the new academy prepares to become part of the Tollbar Family of Academies.

George Sarvantson, 14, commented: “The new academy is now much nicer to work in.

“It makes me want to learn.”

During the summer months the premises has undergone a transformation, with internal and external refurbishments, giving

classrooms state-of-the-art resources.

David Hampson, chief executive of Tollbar MAT, said: “Our intention is to make Somercotes Academy the best school in the area.

“We want parents from Louth and Mablethorpe to see it as an alternative for students.

“Our free bus services mean Louth students can get here in just 20-minutes. There will be high standards of behaviour and we expect students to work hard and we do encourage them to be responsible citizens.

“In return we promise to inspire them with teachers who have a passion for their subjects and who care about the achievements of each student in their care.”
