It may be 2015 but on Saturday March 14 the Louth Sport’s Pavilion will be travelling back in time to the 1980s for a one night only revival of the locally renowned ‘London Road Disco’.

The event has been organised by a group of former Louth teenagers to raise funds for local family support charity Home-Start East Lindsey.

Many teenagers growing up in Louth in the early 1980’s will have attended the ‘London Road Disco’ on a Friday evening at the sports pavilion, originally organised by Louth Old Boy’s Football Club.

Whilst reminiscing about their teenage years and growing up in Louth, a group of friends decided to relive the experience and at the same time raise some much needed funds for Home-Start East Lindsey, a local charity supporting local families facing tragedy and hardship.

Tickets cost £7.50. Call Home-Start East Lindsey on 01507 610665.

Jessica Mackett, a local mum and one of the event’s organisers said, “We are all so looking forward to getting together with old friends, going back the London Road and our teenage years.

“We are all in our 40s now but on March 14 we will be reliving our youth, dancing to those familiar tracks and reapplying layers of lip gloss and eyeliner in the toilets.

“We know things have moved on but we have tried to make it as authentic as possible, we even have a tuck shop.

“I am a mum myself now and being a parent is great, but it can also be challenging.

“Home-Start is a great charity because it’s there for parents and children who need support to help them through difficult times. It is going to be a great night and a great way to help Home-Start and their families too.”

DJ Nice Sean has donated his time to the event and is currently raiding his vinyl collection for the eclectic mix of sounds from the era including Northern Soul, Disco, Rock and Pop, in response to requests being posted on the event’s Facebook page.

Home-Start would like to thank him for his support and all the individuals and local businesses who have donated raffle prizes and food for the event including Spanish Tapas Bar Castillejar, Elysium Beauty Salon, Sweet Encounters, A Dales & Sons and Stevensons.
