Replacing wheelie bins costs East Lindsey District Council around £100,000

Replacing waste collection bins last year cost East Lindsey District Council approximately £100,000, according to a report to members.

Although some wore out as the result of ‘plastic fatigue’, some were destroyed when they fell into the collection vehicles because they were too heavy.

The authority is confident losses will be reduced following the purchase of more modern vehicles.

It says householders are also being asked not to overfill garden waste bins or they risk being ‘rejected’.
