Residents in Mablethorpe are coming together to highlight bad parking taking place in the town in a bid to reduce the amount of offenders.

Parking problems have been rattling the minds of residents for some time now and seems to happen in both Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed that parking enforcement officers do come into the resort as the area is on their rounds, but the number of visits are reduced once the busy summer season has finished.

Residents are keen to try and stamp down on the amount of inadequate parking executed by motorists and drivers with a blue badge.

A Lincolnshire County Council spokesman said: “In regards to blue badge holders, they are permitted to park on yellow lines for up to three hours at a time as long as their badge is displayed, but not in a way where they cause an obstruction.

“If a driver is parked there for more than three hours, a ticket will be issued.”

Residents living in the town have highlighted bad parking via a dedicated parking page on Facebook and the topic usually resurfaces via the Mablethorpe Area Action Group page (MAAG).

Under the official rights and responsibilities for a blue badge holder, it states that: ‘The badge remains the property of the issuing local authority and they can ask for the badge to be returned if it is being misused.’

It also says: ‘Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours but in general not where there are restrictions on loading or unloading.’

If in doubt on where you are or are not allowed to park your vehicle, check local signs displayed near your desired place of parking for further guidance and instruction.
