River and pond algae warning

PEOPLE are being asked to keep a look out for potentially hazardous algae in rivers, lakes and ponds across Lincolnshire.

The Environment Agency says the hot spell may have lead to an increased chance of blue-green algae blooms which produce toxins which can harm, or even kill, farm animals, pets and wild animals.

Sighting of suspected blue green algae should be reported to the owner of the water body or call the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.
