HUNDREDS of children and their parents turned up to ride on the Santa Special steam trains at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway at Ludborough.
The children eagerly awaited their turn to see Father Christmas in his grotto and receive their gift. While riding on the train they were entertained by Santa’s helpers who sang carols.
BBC Lincolnshire’s Amanda Thompson made a surprise visit to the station dressed as a fairy searching for clues in the Pirate Gold Treasure Hunt programme.
LWR spokesman Gordon Newton said: “We have been running extra trains this year because of the high demand for seats and we have pulled out all the stops to put on a good show for our visitors and it’s pleasing that many people remarked what an enjoyable time they had.”
l IF you are looking for something different for the family to do on New Year’s Day then the railway will be open on Sunday January 1.
Steam trains will be running every hour from 10.45am to 3.45pm.
You can also indulge in a delicious all day full English breakfast at the Steaming Kettle station buffet.
