Shoe box gifts appeal in Scamblesby

Every year parishioners in the Parish of the Asterby Group are invited to think of needy children in Eastern Europe at Christmas time by filling shoe boxes with suitable gifts which are transported out to them by the charity Samaritan’s Purse.

They would otherwise not receive a gift at Christmas and this year Scamblesby Church of England School has agreed to be the collection point for the community boxes from the parish with the deadline date to remember 27th November to ensure that they do not miss the boat.
There is a particular need at the moment for items suitable for children aged 9 years to 14 years while items for under 2’s are not required and ideal gifts include educational supplies such as pens, pencils, rubbers, colouring books and note books and hygiene items including toothbrushes and tooth paste, brushes and combs and wrapped soap but liquids such as shampoo, bubble bath or liquid soap cannot be included.
Leaflets are available either through any of the ten churches in the Parish Group or from the post office at Donington on Bain while any further information can be obtained from Sarah on 01507 343270 who will also be happy to answer any queries.
