Louth were the strongest side from the offset and any error that was forced by the uni side were quickly resolved and backed up resulting Louth’s first goal scored by Captain Chris Giles.

York had several breaks throughout the first half only to be halted from our very strong experienced defence.

The midfield were like workhorses tracking backwards and forwards forcing the uni side into making errors and rewarding Chris Giles a further three goals.

Pushing forward again after gaining possession saw Louth’s efforts rewarded with a penalty corner, Cath Hill performed a beautiful flick into the top right hand corner making the score 4-0.

Just as half time approached the overly keen efforts of Louth’s defence gave the Uni side a penalty flick making the halftime score 4-1.

Louth started the second half well only to make the uni side more frustrated, challenges and tackles made that quite evident.

It was a hard fought game and the York didn’t let up at all throughout and in fact the score wasn’t a true reflection of the game.

The efforts of Louth were too much for the uni team as a further four goals were scored, three of which were by Chris Giles and the fourth by Margaret Bilcliffe, who stormed through the York defence.

With minutes left for the final whistle, a short corner was awarded to York following a misunderstanding between the defender and ‘keeper. York scored their second goal of the game making the final score 8-2 to Louth.
