A SOUTH Reston author’s new book tells the humorous story of a youngster’s adventures at the heart of the 1960s mining boom.

Peter Gray’s A Certain Summer paints a picture of young Sam’s life in an area of north-east Derbyshire now known as The Five Pits Trail.

Packed with nostalgia, the scenes are vivid and the reader gets an atmosphere of steam locomotives rumbling through the sleepy hamlets and the hoots of young boys re-enacting the adventures of Robin Hood.

A Certain Summer is available now via www.trickyimppublishing.co.uk or at Waterstones Bookstores, and locally, at MSR Newsagents in Mercer Row, Louth, The Manor House, Alford, and all good book shops.

Fans can meet the author at a book signing on June 29 from 2pm-4.30pm at Louth Library, with the book on offer with £1 off the recommended price (£7.95).
