Over the summer, the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway invited visitors to enter their photographs in a competition to find the best picture of the railway. Now, the winner has been chosen.

The entries were judged by well-known professional railway photographer Les Nixon, who selected a shot which was taken at Ludborough engine shed by Brian Hall from Scunthorpe.

LWR spokesman Phil Eldridge said: “The competition was the idea of one of our volunteers, Richard Headland, from Caistor.

“We get some top notch photographers from all over the country visiting our railway and they often let us use their photos for publicity purposes.

“The entries in the competition were of a very high standard.”

Commenting on Brian’s photo, Les Nixon said: “A delightful engine shed scene which works so well in black and white.

“The picture is made by the drifting steam which brings it to life. An excellent photograph.”

Brian, pictured above, visited the Ludborough station to collect his gift voucher prize last week.
