AN upcoming Christmas fayre in Sutton on Sea hopes to raise hundreds of pounds to support ailing voluntary groups and charities in the village.
The fayre, this Saturday December 3, will support a number of local groups who are in need of boost in these troubled times.
It has been organised by Sutton on Sea First Residents Association and takes place at St Clement’s Church Hall between 10am and 2pm.
Town and district councillor Andrew Ferryman, who chairs the village’s residents association, said: “The current economic downturn is affecting everyone and local voluntary groups are no exception.
“The idea behind this community event is to enable local groups to raise some extra cash before Christmas. This will hopefully replace funding that may have been cut from elsewhere.”
Organisations taking part include Friends of Marisco, Sutton Carnival Committee, Sutton Community Voluntary Car Service and the Organ Society.
“We are hoping that this Community Christmas Fete becomes an annual event” said Coun Ferryman. “We are fortunate to have an array of vibrant and committed voluntary organisation serving Sutton on Sea. I hope local residents will come and support them.”
As well as having a wide variety of stalls and activities the fete will welcome the first visit of Santa Claus to the village over the festive season.
