Supermarket giant Tesco has officially signed a contract with the Lindum Group securing their commitment to build a store in Mablethorpe.
The deal was made official at the end of March and a spokesman for Tesco are excited to be taking their store plans forward and providing jobs for local people living in the coastal town.
A spokesman said: “We have recently signed contracts with the Lindum Group that we will deliver the new store.
“Now we are very pleased to be taking forward plans for a new supermarket in Golf Road in Mablethorpe.
“The support we received for our proposals at our consultation event last year was amazing and we are really looking forward to serving the local community.
“The new store will provide Mablethorpe with new choice and a fantastic shopping experience, as well creating around 200 jobs for local people.”
Lindum began work on the Golf Road project, which will include housing, a supermarket, petrol station, pub and restaurant, on August 19 last year.
A spokesman for the Lindum Group commented that “all work on site was moving forward on schedule” and that “further developments would be announced in the coming weeks.”
Tesco added that they were not yet “in a position to officially confirm the start and end date for the build”, but would make this announcement as soon as possible.
Residents will be relieved with the latest news and confirmation from Tesco as many were unsure if the supermarket build would take shape.
The Golf Road development is now entering its eighth month and at the time the building work began, Lindum confirmed that they were looking at an approximate “four year time scale for the project to be fully completed.”
