Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeguards have returned to keep watch over Mablethorpe beaches and begin their 2015 season over the weekend.

The charity’s lifeguards, in association with East Lindsey District Council, will be operating daily safety patrols from 10am to 6pm through to September 6.

A seven-day-a-week service will also begin at Sutton on Sea from July 4, with patrols again operating until September 6 also.

The lifeguards have undergone a period of comprehensive training and have passed rigorous fitness tests to ensure that everyone is in top condition and physically ready for the seasonal service.

Some 95 per cent of the role is preventative and the teams will be on hand to offer friendly safety advice, such as always to swim between the red and yellow flags and tips on what to do if you get into trouble in the water. For more info, visit www.rnli.org.uk.
