Thorne’s Beehives to host Barkwith and District Gardeners Association

A TEAM from the Barkwith and District Gardeners Association with their supporters will be travelling to Market Rasen on Friday March 30 to take part in the annual three way quiz with teams from Woodhall Spa Gardeners and Market Rasen Gardeners who are this years hosts.

Sheila Minns, Kate Wright and Laura Pearce will form the Barkwith Gardeners team trying to find the answers to the rounds of questions on various gardening themes with the aim of notching up the top score to claim the championship for the club. Everyone is very welcome to join the audience and refreshments will be served afterwards by the hosts. This replaces the monthly meeting in the village hall for March and the next meeting of the Barkwith and district Gardeners on Friday April 27 will also be held at a new venue.

Thorne’s Beehives of Wragby will be the hosts at their new home at Rand and members are asked to meet there at 7pm for a conducted tour of the premises.

There they will be shown around by staff to see where all things necessary for bees are produced by the firm which distributes nationally to bee keepers, the valued friend of all gardeners. This will also be the last meeting of the winter session as a break is then taken during the light summer evenings before meetings resume again in September but for those who like to get out and about Les Robinson has organised lots of his very popular coach trips to places of interest.

The next one is to the Spring Flower Show at Harrogate on Thursday April 26 followed by a tour of the church Flower Festivals at Sutterton and Long Sutton on May 4 and there is always a meal with good food at reasonable prices included in his package. While they do get booked up very quickly, Les operates a waiting list in case there are passengers unable to make it at the last minute so anyone interested in finding out more can contact him on 01673 857063.
