Three sisters from Louth have extra reason to celebrate their golden wedding anniversaries this year, as they are all celebrating them in the same year.

Sylvia Fant and Marleen Baker both celebrated 50 years of marriage earlier this year, and third sister Brenda Coupland is due to celebrate her golden wedding anniversary with husband Barry on July 13.

And the similarities don’t end there, as all three sisters had their first child in the same year, and Sylvia’s husband Colin and Marleen’s husband Brian were even born on exactly the same day!

Brenda said: “It just sort of happened! It was sheer coincidence.”

The sisters, maiden name Askew, all grew up in the town but Sylvia now lives in Bracebridge Heath and Marleen lives in Heighington.

They were all married in 1963 in churches in Louth.

Colin and Sylvia tied the knot at Eastgate Union Church, Barry and Brenda were wed at St Michael’s Church and Brian and Marleen married at St James’s Church.

Brenda continued: “We were all engaged within just over a year. We could have had a wedding together really, it would have saved our dad a lot of money!”

Brenda and Barry are planning a big family party at their house in Keddington Road for their special day, with 60 to 70 family members and friends expected to attend.
