TICKETS FOR TROOPS is delighted to announce a new partnership with Apollo Cinemas, which allows the charity to offer free tickets for the movies to members of the Armed Forces for the first time.
Servicemen and women will be offered the opportunity to see a film for free every week at all 14 UK Apollo Cinemas.
These tickets will be made available on the Tickets for Troops website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk for troops who are currently serving or who have been medically discharged since 2001.
Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events, theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since launching it has been donated over 250,000 tickets and over 85,000 troops have registered on the website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.
Chairman of Tickets For Troops Lord Marland said: “We are enormously grateful to Apollo Cinemas for their support of Tickets For Troops. It makes a real difference to the troops who are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times.”
Rob Arthur, Managing Director, Apollo Cinemas, added: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to give something back to the nation’s servicemen and women. Through the Tickets for Troops programme the UK’s armed forces will have access to a varied range of cinema releases from Kung Fu Panda 2, to the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean and the finale of Harry Potter.”
Apollo Cinemas Ltd is the UK’s largest independent chain, serving over 2.6 million customers each year. It is currently the UK’s sixth largest cinema operator (by number of screens), with 83 screens across 14 cinema locations, with a further 32 screens and three cinemas in development. It also boasts ten per cent of the UK’s 3D screens, as well as the West End’s only all-3D, all-digital multiplex, in its London Piccadilly location.
By mid-summer, 2011, it will be the world’s first cinema chain to be outfitted with all-Sony 4K digital projectors, backed by RealD 3D and Arqiva satellites offering the pinnacle of screen technology to present the latest cinema releases, live events and alternative content in the highest possible quality.
Tickets For Troops has teamed up with a wide range of organisations and has been able to offer free tickets to a huge number of high profile events, recently these have included tickets for The BRIT Awards, John Bishop and England v Ghana at Wembley.
This initiative has attracted maximum support from a host of Patrons, including Joanna Lumley, Alan Shearer, and PMs wife Samantha Cameron.
