A QUALITY independent retailer in Louth has beaten off stiff competition and won the Best for Food prize in national awards.

The Cheese Shop in Eastgate scooped the prize in the Telegraph Magazine’s Best Small Shops in Britain awards last Thursday (February 10).

The awards are in their fifth year and focus on small, independent retailers on Britain’s high streets. Readers were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite small shop in 10 different categories. The three shops with the most votes in each category were then visited by a team of judges who selected the winners.

Paul Adams, owner of The Cheese Shop, said: “We are thrilled to have won this national award, putting this lovely market town of Louth on the map.

“We have so many quality independent shops here that we can all be proud of.

“To all of our loyal and discerning customers, both local and nationwide, I send a big thank you for making this possible.”
