A 22-year-old Alford man has died after his vehicle left the road on Fodder Dyke Bank, New Leake and entered a water filled ditch.

The incident took place at around 8:35am today, Sunday. The deceased was alone in the car, which was a black Peugeot 206 GTI. No other vehicle is believed to have been involved.

The road was closed until 4:22pm this afternoon.

Anyone with any information should call the force control-room via the 101 non-emergency number or the collision witness hotline on 01522 558855. It would be helpful if they could quote incident number 115 of 14th September.

This brings the number of people killed on the roads of Lincolnshire in 2014 to 25 compared to 24 over the same period in 2013. It also means that six people have died on the roads of the county in less than a week.
