Travellers who said they intended to leave Mablethorpe on Sunday are this morning (August 17) beginning to leave the area.

Traveller vehicles arrived in the town on August 3, which saw over 45 vehicles take over the Seacroft Road car park in the town centre.

Since then, more vehicles have come which has brought the numbers up to nearly 100.

After two weeks of staying in the area, East Lindsey District Council will be at Boston County Court this morning (Monday) to get the possession order in place so the travellers can be moved on.

This order will only apply for the Seacroft Road car park as separate court proceedings have to go through for the second car park, the High Street car park next to the Station Sports Centre, which was taken over by vehicles on Thursday (August 13).

When The Leader spoke to the travellers last week, they commented that they were ‘here for a summer holiday and would be leaving on Sunday’, (August 16).

Travellers have been seen leaving the Seacroft Road car park today (Monday), but vehicles still remain on site in the High Street car park.
