An upbeat note on the state of East Lindsey’s markets was sounded at a full meeting of the district council.
“They are doping well,“ insisted responsible portfolio holder Coun Adam Grist.
He was responding to a claim by Coun George Horton that they were “sadly demising”, resulting in a lower footfall of customers.
Said Coun Horton: “On my last visit to Louth Market, there were seven vacant stalls - it wasn’t at all vibrant.”
Coun Grist retorted: “It’s not helpful to talk down our markets .
“We are currently looking at best practice elsewhere - if there is anything that can be learned from others, we shall of course look to feed this into our service.”
