Two of the eight dogs stolen from near Market Rasen have been found thanks to investigations carried out by an animal welfare worker.

Police reported that one dog was found at The Ridgeway in Berkshire and the other Saluki was found in Andover, Hampshire.

“Amy of the Ark located them,” said John Lennon, owner of the stolen dogs and puppies.

“I don’t think we could have done it without her. She’s been an absolute angel.”

The recovery of the two dogs meant a 510-mile round trip to Southampton, and over £100 of vet bills as the dogs had picked up a cough.

But John, of North Gulham was still happy to have them back.

Amy Garland of Brookenby, who works for The Ark Animal Rescue Centre in North Somercotes, used her contacts in the dog world to track down the stolen salukis.

“I was contacted by the Dogs Trust in Newbury. They contacted us through the Dogs Lost website, which helps people find their pets,” Amy explained.

This led to the recovery of Paddy, a 3.5 year-old Saluki.

The second dog was found using Facebook, when somebody posted ‘Elsie’ has been found.

Elsie was identified by some scars she has.

Amy contacted Test Valley Council and she arranged for John Lennon to pick them up on Wednesday.

“There’s still six missing puppies. They will be the hardest to find. Four are only ten weeks old and it is easy to keep them in the house. They can change in shape and colour as they grow older, which makes it harder for them to be recognised,” she said.

Amy manages the Ark on a weekend and her mum is a dog warden for East Lindsey District Council.

“I do try and help people find their dogs,” she said.

“It’s a great passion of mine.”

The dogs were reported stolen on Saturday November 1.

Lincolnshire Police request anyone who may know the whereabouts of the remaining dogs to contact them on 101 quoting incident 418 of 01/11/2014.

Alternatively, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
