Update: Grimoldby man ‘stable’ as A16 reopens

POLICE are appealing for information after a moped rider collapsed, causing the A16 Louth bypass to be closed on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3pm when a 69-year-old moped rider from Grimoldby collapsed.

Emergency services closed the road while investigations took place and the motorist was taken to Grimsby Hospital before later being transferred to Castle Hill Hospital in Hull.

Police say his condition is now serious but stable.

The A16 was closed between the A157 roundabout and the Fairfield Industrial Estate roundabout and was reopened by 5pm on Thursday.

Police don’t believe the man was involved in a collision and are appealing for any witnesses in the area at the time to contact them with information.
