Update: Robert Mark Burton did not turn up to court on Tuesday morning, and an arrest warrant has been issued.

A Mablethorpe man is due to appear in court tomorrow (February 24) charged with stealing a car, before then crashing it into a parked car in Waterloo Road.

Robert Mark Burton, 25, of Alexandra Terrace, is charged with “aggravated vehicle taking and property damage under £5000” following the alleged incident on August 21 last year.

It is alleged that Burton took a Mitsubishi Chariot in Mablethorpe without the owner’s consent, before crashing into a parked Seat Ibiza on Waterloo Road.

Burton is also charged with driving the motor vehicle without an appropriate driving licence and driving a vehicle in a public place without third party insurance, contrary to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

Burton is due to appear at Skegness Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (February 24).
