A wide array of entertainment was on offer on Thursday evening (November 27) as huge crowds descended on Louth town centre to enjoy the Christmas lights switch-on and family gala.
The gala was organised by the Louth Town Partnership (LTP) in conjunction with the town council who arranged the lights switch-on and the blessing of the crib.
Town Manager Nicola Marshall estimates that around 5,000 people attended throughout the day, and said: “It was absolutely great. There was a really good, festive atmosphere and everybody contributed to help make it a success.”
Nicola thanked the many shops in the town centre that stayed open late, and added: “Santa was very popular, with around 200 children visiting him at his grotto in the New Market Hall - and he will back in town on December 7 at the Christmas market.”
There were dozens of stalls in the Cornmarket and Mercer Row, along with children’s rides, live band, and roaming entertainment from the legendary Earthbound Misfits.
