Louth Leader readers have named their favourites in the Louth Independent Business Awards.
To celebrate Independent Retail Month, the national campaign to support independent retailers, we teamed up with the Louth Town Partnership to ask readers to nominate businesses and there was a great response.
The business with the most nominations in each category won that category.
Here are the winners -
Favourite Customer Service: Jassies sweet shop with M & G Designs highly commended.
Favourite Independent Retailer: Jassies.
Favourite Independent Business: The Brown Cow.
Favourite Independent Food: Tina’s Café.
Overall Winner: The winners of each category received a visit by a mystery shopper from Totem Training and the overall winner was announced as Jassies.
Each winner received a plaque and certificate and the overall winner will get a special showcase feature in the Leader and a signed copy of Retail Champion Clare Rayner’s book.
A partnership spokesperson said: “Our independent businesses are one of Louth’s many selling points and it is great to see that so many people took the time to vote for their favourites. We would like to say a huge congratulations to all our winners and thank the Louth Leader and Totem Training for helping to make Louth’s first Independent Retail Awards a complete success.”
Since its launch in 2011, Independent Retailer Month, which runs throughout July, has grown rapidly, engaging 1000s of retailers and consumer facing businesses UK-wide.
It highlights the important role that smaller, independent retailers play in the communities they serve, the local economy they contribute to, and in the retail sector as a whole.
By encouraging independent retailers, groups of retailers, and even whole towns, to create fun and engaging promotions, activities and events during the month of July, the campaign also tackles the very real issue of declining footfall in towns and village centres.
Independent Retailer Month UK is led by Clare Rayner, The Retail Champion, who is founder of the Support for Independent Retail campaign which is a year round source of support, advice, ideas and inspiration.
Its aim is to help independent retailers and those who serve consumers to get, and stay, open for business!
